Police EXPOSE Massive Theft Rings Targeting Victoria’s Secret and Lululemon

Is your significant other bringing you brand-new Victoria’s Secret or Lululemon items with tags still attached? If you thought it was a sweet deal, you might want to reconsider the source of those gifts. San Francisco Police, in collaboration with retail loss prevention teams, recently cracked down on a large-scale retail theft operation. The vendors, sanctioned by a permit from the city’s public works department, no less, were setting up shop on the streets of San Francisco, particularly in the 1800 block of Mission Street. They were selling freshly-stolen merchandise from stores like Victoria’s Secret and Lululemon right there on the street corner, tags and all.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill shoplifting; it’s organized retail theft taken to another level. These items don’t just vanish into thin air after they’re stolen. They end up on tables set up in busy city corners, masquerading as ‘unbeatable deals.’ In another incident, nearly $200,000 worth of stolen items were discovered in a Los Angeles pop-up shop. The investigation was led by LA’s newly formed Organized Retail Crime Task Force. Is this task force going to be effective? Time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: organized retail theft is a lucrative business that’s costing retailers and consumers alike. And if you think stealing less than $950 worth of items in LA will get you a slap on the wrist, you’re absolutely right, but perhaps it’s time to question if that’s the kind of society we want to live in.
