Seattle Anti-ICE Signs Delay Transportation Projects

What a day for our city, and I could not be prouder to stand here with Starbucks baristas in solidarity today. I’m asking everyone who believes in fairness, dignity, and workers’ rights to stand with us on this picket line. problematic to have random people showing up to daycares, um and uh yeah, I mean, I think the fear in the Somali community is real. The fear in immigrant communities are real, so we’re taking that very seriously. While baristas are on strike, the baristas have shared that the BEST WAY TO SHOW our support is not to buy Starbucks in solidarity. Along those lines, have you asked anyone to follow up on the fraud claims, either to the Department of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs or SPD?

SO, THERE’S AS far as you’re concerned right now, there’s no reason to suggest there’s any sort of fraud? >> this whole issue is not really about fraud, right? It’s about dividing and conquering. It’s about making an immigrant community a target. >> A post on Seattle Mayor Jenny Wilson’s X account is sparking heated discussion and debate. The social media post is about a weekend anti-ICE rally in Seattle, and it included a photo that shows the mayor posing with two people at a rally and a sign with the word “Nazis” on it.

>> This is about as big and ridiculous of a virtue signal that is completely unnecessary, that is a massive waste of the taxpayers’ dollars, and kind of just shows the direction that Seattle, under current leadership, is heading. It’s terrible. It is just absolutely mind-blowingly in [snorts] defiance of logic. Here’s the basics. Seattle may have to delay or defer transportation projects, getting people from point A to point B, which is critical. People like to get to jobs, people like to get to places, get their groceries, be able to just get around, right? Going to delay transportation projects in order to pay for anti-ICE signs in public places in Seattle for an ICE invasion that has not yet happened.

This is virtue signaling at its greatest. This is This is just This is next-level mental mental gymnastics that go nowhere. It It It’s wild, right? All right, so here’s an example of what we’re talking about. This property is owned and controlled by the city of Seattle. Nobody cares. It shall not be used for civil immigration enforcement staging, operations, or processing. Now, if you know anything about Seattle, does a sign stop us from doing anything? No. No littering, no camping, no fires, no Nothing stops anybody from doing anything in Seattle because we really don’t follow any laws. You’ve got people breaking into businesses.

You’ve got a an hour right now. You’ve got business owners sleeping in their cafe so that the whacked-out homeless drug addicts don’t steal copper from their air conditioning condensers. True story. You got people sleeping in their businesses because there is no law that is followed. There is not enough police officers. You’re 600 cops shy. It’s a free-for-all. You go to city parks, hey, anything goes. Do drugs? You betcha. Buy drugs? You betcha. Little human trafficking, sex trafficking? Oh, yeah. All day long. Go up to highway 99 in Seattle. You want to see off the rails, literally off the rails prostitution?

I mean, it’s it’s and it’s wide open. So, do we think a sign is going to do a damn thing for anything? We’re talking about a sign. Talking about signs. Talking about 656 signs the city of Seattle wants to put up to virtue signal. Oh, we’re not allowing ICE to stage here. ICE hasn’t even said they’re going to do a major uh uh you know, run-in like LA or Minneapolis or they’re just they they haven’t said that. So, this is all just virtue signaling of the the nth degree, right? So, you got a bunch of signs. I mean, you’ve got signs all over Seattle saying all kinds of stuff. Nobody pays attention to them.

Do you know what those signs You know what happens to those signs? They get graffitied over. Yeah, that’s right. They get graffitied over. You know what we’re doing against graffiti artists? Uh not a lot. I mean, just it’s it’s it’s backwards. It’s wild. And and this is the kind of thing where a socialist mayor and city council, they all think, “Oh, this is great. We’re virtue signaling. Oh, oh, this is going to do so much.” It’s it’s just like people with their no king signs, right? Just You’re not doing anything. This isn’t doing anything. This does nothing. Because when the feds come in, they do what they want.

What are you going to do? You going to stop them with the Seattle Police Department? Seattle Police Department doesn’t even show up for They show up to what they can, but they’re so understaffed and they’re just all running on overtime all the time. Uh you know, you you’ve got a you’ve got a society that’s wildly out of bounds with the law. And even if we do make arrests, you’ve got a bunch of judges that just let people go. We got We got whacked-out nut jobs just running around chasing each other down with swords. I mean, it’s an absolute free-for-all. And now, 656 signs at the cost of $45,000, something like that.

We’ll read it in a sec. is somehow going to make a difference. Now, this is about Seattle being blue. And this is about everybody that is blue understanding that the criminal illegals are the difference between population migration, Democrats losing, and Democrats winning. You need all those criminal illegals to come into your district because that gets counted in the population count, right? Census count. And that’s how things are apportioned. So, deporting all these folks, oh good lord, no, we’re going to lose. We’re going to lose. So, have a bunch of criminal illegals on welfare come into your system.

Ah. Great plan, guys. City of Seattle may need to delay or defer transportation projects or programs because of the expense of installing hundreds of signs warning that city property cannot be used by federal authorities for immigration enforcement actions. Do you think ICE cares? Oh, there’s a sign. Oh my word, we better stand down. Oh my gosh, there’s a sign. Look at the sign. Oh, what’s it say? It’s That’s what it is. This is This is absolutely 100% Social just nonsense. It’s just nonsense. A fiscal note provided for Tuesday’s March 10th Public Safety Committee meeting states, to the extent that appropriations made in the 2016 adopted budget support other activities, and for which Seattle Department of Transportation cannot find efficiencies, can’t find a way to save money, get extra money, / savings to otherwise support, Sdot may have to delay or defer projects or programs to free up funding for the signage costs that will be incurred pursuant to this legislation.

Cost for signage is indeterminate at this point as FAS has not yet completed a review of all the properties that would be covered by this legislation. Hey, here’s the thing. Don’t put any stupid signs up cuz you know why? It doesn’t matter. It has zero impact on anything. Do you think ICE is going to Oh my gosh. Oh, we can’t go there. And then you’re just going to have a bunch of criminal illegals dancing around going na na na na na you can’t get us. Do you think that’s how this goes? You’re you’re delaying actual needed transportation projects for stupid signs that have no impact on anything except a bunch of virtue signaling.

Hey, here’s the thing. If you’ve got criminal illegals that need to be deported, let ICE deport them. Get the criminal illegals out of your system. Oh, but you don’t want to do that because that wouldn’t be good for your power play. That wouldn’t be good for your politics. And this isn’t just Seattle. This is all across the country. That’s what the that deal is, right? That’s why everybody’s so down on ICE right now. Oh my gosh, taking away our power play. They’re taking away our ability to get our next officials elected because ICE is deporting our constituents, our future constituents. Seattle Department of Transportation is responsible for maintenance upkeep of Seattle streets, roadways, and bridges in addition to running two streetcar lines.

Well, right. The note does not list possible potential cuts that could be made by the Sdot. A February 24 City Council research staff memo said that the posting of 656 signs. 656 signs. And and and what does the city get for that? A bunch of virtue signaling. This is the the the mental inability of socialists of of of these Democrats to understand reality versus what the city actually needs. The city needs to clean up the homeless. The city needs to arrest drug addicts. The city needs to arrest drug dealers. The city needs to arrest pimps. The city needs to arrest prostitutes. Incarcerate them.

Get them off the streets. The city needs to enforce regular laws. Not put up signs. Not We don’t know we need the signs cuz you know what? They’re signs for something that hasn’t happened and that may not happen. And even if ICE does come in and start clearing out some criminal illegals, which you know, that’s that’s just the way this goes. Obama did it. Clinton did it. Every Democrat president has done it. And yet now that Trump is doing it and Biden let in 20 million criminal illegals into the country. Oh my gosh, if we toss a few million out, good lord, can’t have that. Better put up a sign.

Better put up a sign. Signs 656 signs on city property was expected to cost Sdot $45,000 to just make the signs. That’s all they’re doing, making them. Not installing them. And and an unspecified amount to install them. The $45,000 figure, if accurate, would be less than 1% of Sdot’s budget. Okay, why are we even putting that number in there? I guess just for scale. But $45,000 for completely unnecessary signs that basically pits law enforcement against other law enforcement. Why are we trying to mitigate what law enforcement is doing? Why are we trying to mitigate what ICE is doing? Deporting criminals who shouldn’t be here.

Why are we doing that? What’s the what’s the deal there? It I mean, it’s kind of like we saw at the beginning of this video, Katie Wilson talking about, “No, I won’t investigate Somali fraud.” That kind of tells you everything you need to right there, doesn’t it? Yeah. You got a bunch of fraud. You’ve got fraud you know, diversity is not our strength. When you’re bringing a bunch of Somalis who are borderline mentally capable of just operating in society with IQs of 68, 70, and they’re all on welfare and for years and years and years after they come into the country and supposed to assimilate, they’re on welfare.

That that that is not diversity is our strength. That is a weakness and that is a massive drawdown on taxpayer dollars. Just like the city of Seattle spending money here on 656 signs for $45,000 without even installing them. We’re just going to make them. We’re going to make a bunch of ridiculous signs that do nothing, that really prevent nothing cuz nobody really looks at signs and goes, “Oh, oh my oh my oh oh oh my word. Oh, we can’t we can’t deport Feds don’t listen to what city cops say. They just don’t. Feds Trump local. Just period. So, this whole this whole notion of oh, we’re going to make the criminal illegals feel better.

Why do we want to do that? Well, it’s virtue signaling. It’s Seattle socialist virtue signaling. Oh, going to make everybody feel good. Uh just going to have a big circle jerk and everybody’s going to feel good. This is going to be greatest thing ever. Don’t [snorts] care whether the cost of installing the signs has risen, don’t really care cuz the whole thing is just absolutely preposterous and unnecessary. City Council and city officials did not respond to requests for comment. right. Signs are scheduled to be placed on a variety of locations, including multiple spots in front of City Hall, City Seattle Center, parking garages, and parks.

Why? The The feds have the ability to come in and just do what they want. So, you telling them that they can’t is just a massive waste of taxpayer dollar. But, hey, let’s just go ahead and do that, you know, to the nth degree, and we’ll just see what happens. You know, because taxpayer dollars are just endless, right? Just endless. And this this is this is along the same lines of, “Hey, let’s tax Amazon, and we’ll see what happens. Hey, let’s protest against Starbucks.” Starbucks, you know, cranks up another headquarters in Tennessee. They’re moving out of Seattle. Starbucks literally just yesterday said, “Yep, we’re closing five more stores in Seattle.” So, you’ve got all this narrative going the wrong direction, and it’s because of knucklehead things like this.

Oh, let’s put up some signs. No kings, you know? They’re already being put up as part of Mayor Jenny Wilson’s January 29th executive order prohibiting federal immigration authorities from using city-owned or controlled property for enforcement activities. Again, the feds don’t care. And what are you going to do? You going to sue the feds for deporting criminal illegals? Yeah, probably not. Probably not. Whoever you are and wherever you come from, if Seattle is your home, then this is your city. Not You know what? If you come in from outside of the country and you come here illegally, Seattle is not your home.

Your home is wherever you came from, and ICE will deport you. And I I support that. That’s just how this goes. It’s It’s not my rules. This is border law that’s been in place for years and years and years. And it’s our responsibility as city leaders to move quickly and get organized so we can keep people safe. How about all the people dying of fentanyl overdoses on the street? What about them? Are you keeping them safe? Are you organizing quickly on them? Are you just kind of doing some sweeps and just Yeah, what what what are you doing there? What are you doing there? Oh, yeah, just whack them all just like normal.

Yeah, because you need more housing. So [snorts] many different things you can go down the road on and just basically point out the massive massive elephant in the room, which is Seattle policies socialist policies do not work and they won’t work and they’ll never work because socialism works for those who don’t. Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> Weird. Policy mandates that police officers must video record US immigration. That is the stupidest thing ever. That’s just dumb. Cops aren’t going to do that. If they do, shame on you. Shame on you. That’s dumb. Law enforcement going after other law enforcement using body worn and in cameras.

Public Safety Committee Chair Bob Kettle said earlier this month that placing the signs on city property is the right thing to do. Bob, it’s not. You’re a Right thing to do to show immigrants that the city supports them. I don’t. I don’t want them here. You know why? They’re illegal. Deport them. Yeah, it’s what you need to do. You brought in millions into the country. Deport. Deport. I’m totally in support of that. Here’s the feds response. Department of Justice will not tolerate the obstruction of lawful efforts to enforce federal immigration law. That’s what this is. That’s all that this is.

Why are we getting in the middle of law enforcement? Well, because it’s a political ploy, right? It’s a political ploy and all the Democrats got together and like, “Oh my god, you you we got to support each other because all the population is moving out.” Population’s moving out of Washington. Population is moving out of Illinois, out of New York, out of California. They’re moving to Texas, they’re moving to Florida. They’re moving to the Carolinas, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona. Places where you have more freedom, where there’s less taxes, where there’s less idiotic nonsense like this. You would never find this in a Texas.

You would never find this in Oklahoma. It’s just not a thing. It’s not a thing. Because they understand law enforcement works with law enforcement and that’s how it goes. Chicago and Providence have passed similar similar [clears throat] executive orders cuz on signage barring immigration action on city property. >> [laughter] >> The whole thing is just it’s wild it’s wildly preposterous. It’s a Seattle shenanigan of the highest order, right? I mean that’s what this is. The these are these are whacked out nutty people coming out with whacked out nutty policy and then they want to put signs up because that’s worked so well.

How about You know what? Let’s go here. How about all the signs surrounding Dr. Jose Rizal Park? And you got Steve Irwin down there with his excavator in a Seattle public park. You can’t seem to keep him out of the damn park. He just goes in there with the excavator, he goes in there with his mining equipment. I’ve been there. I documented it. He showed me his you know, minerals and his diamonds and his gold which were pebbles. I mean And then I went there and I documented Dr. Jose Rizal Park with Andrea Suarez how it was just overrun by drug dealers and drug addicts and prostitutes and just people leaving garbage, people smoking it up, people just absolutely destroying the park.

There’s signs all over saying there’s no campfires. There’s no camping. There’s no drugs. There’s no firearms, there’s no Yeah, yeah. Signs up everywhere. Does anybody pay attention? No. Why? Cuz it’s not enforced. Just like this does not have the ability to be enforced. And that’s why Seattle is going downhill so quickly because you have leadership that basically has their head up their behind. And they don’t understand. They don’t want to understand. They think that by virtue signaling that ice anti-ice signs are the way to go. That that’s what the constituents want. You know what? A bunch of the constituents do want that, but they’re also the ones that, you know, aren’t having a positive impact on the city.

They’re not running businesses. They’ve got blue hair. They’re making terrible life decisions, and that’s where it gets you, in a homeless encampment somewhere doing a bunch of drugs. So, anti-ice signs, ah, what a waste of time. What a waste of resources, time, and just one big virtue signaling debacle. It’s just, you know, put it on the list of many things Seattle is is going to get into under socialist mayor Katie Wilson. I’ll podcast each and every one. Thanks so much for being here.
